Taken at the Tom Miller Dam in Austin, Texas.
In early July, we received enough rain to qualify for a "100-year flood". Fortunately, the dam network run by the Lower Colorado River Authority held strong. It sure moved a lot of water, though!
I had never been out on Redbud Trail before, so I didn't know what to expect. As soon as I saw the tops of trees sticking out of the water, I knew I had hit paydirt. There was a pretty steady stream of people both walking and driving over the bridge to check things out. The park in the middle of the river was pretty much underwater except the parking lot and the LCRA security guy was really upset that people would even consider parking their cars anywhere near the bridge.
It is disconcerting to see a sign that says DANGER next to a structure that is holding back a not-insignificant amount of water.
