MSpencer > July 17, 2008 Silence By The Shore

"She silently plays by the shore,
Little fingers build castles and
Wait for laps of water
To come and fill empty moats.
No one but she knows the plans
For this creation.
No one but she knows who lives within
These sandy walls
And watery shores
As she silently plays by the shore." -Melissa Spencer

"Baby hands that tighten
Not only around fingers
But also around hearts." -Melissa Spencer
MSpencer > July 14, 2008 Flower Splash

Sorry that I haven't posted in a few days. I have had company and although we took tons of photos, I haven't had time to post. I experimented with PS again today on some of the bridal shots I took last week. This is almost like one I saw in Bridal Magazine that I tried to mimic. It's pretty close. Only I have mountains in my shot!!!!
MSpencer > July 10, 2008 Beautiful Bride

This is my beautiful friend who recently got married. It was easy to get such a shot with such a gorgeous bride in such a lovely park.
MSpencer > July 9,2008 Portrait of Me

Today I decided to post a self-portrait that I have been using to learn some Photoshop moves. In this photo I have eliminated my 11's (the wrinkles between the eyes), and have done some selective coloring. I also added a frame that I downloaded as a demo from OnOne. It's not my favorite frame but I wanted to see how it looked posted. The demo only has selective frames...the real deal has over 4,000! I need this software!!!!

It's been fun experimenting on my own photo so that I can fix up some of my client's pictures.
MSpencer > July 8, 2008 Aspens in Aspen

This is a stand of Aspens taken in Aspen, Colorado. I am experimenting with a photo collage that includes this photo. I'll post it for feedback when I finish. Thank you all for your wonderful comments on my pictures. I love all that you have to say and I really have been enjoying all of your unbelievable talent!
MSpencer > June 7, 2008 Friends for Life

"What is a friend for life?
It is that someone you sat next to in school
learning facts and knowledge together
that will carry you both through life.
It is a special relationship that involves
mutual knowledge
shared experiences
and affection for one another in a way that
no one
but you
know how to do.
It is a welcoming and knowing smile when eyes meet.
It is undying loyalty
and a true value of a friendship.
It is empathy
Sympathy
Honesty and understanding.
It is one of the
most important
pieces of your life." -Melissa Spencer
MSpencer > July 5, 2008 Uncle Sam is Alive and Well (and feisty)

"Uncle Sam is a national personification of the United States (US), with the first usage of the term dating from the War of 1812 and the first illustration dating from 1852. He is often depicted as a serious elderly white man with white hair and a goatee, with an obvious resemblance to Presidents Andrew Jackson and Abraham Lincoln, and dressed in clothing that recalls the design elements of the flag of the United States—for example, typically a top hat with red and white stripes and white stars on a blue band, and red and white striped trousers.? -Wikipedia

I know the Fourth of July is over but this patriotic fellow deserved to be my daily!
MSpencer > July 4, 2008 Friends of the Fourth

"The Fourth of July is little girls
With colored bows of red, white and blue.
Smiles on faces that glow behind colored sparklers.
Bikes are decorated and line neighborhood sidewalks
as parents march alongside children snapping photos.
Pots and pans are banged as part of the band that marches.
As night approaches, glowing jewelry adorns necks
And arms are banded with brightly colored bracelets.
Children settle down on soft blankets, cooled by the grass
And snuggle close
As they await the first colorful bursts.
Bang!
Eyes get wide and Ooohs and Aahhhs can be heard from each blanket.
Freedom is in the air...
And lying on cool blankets, snuggled close to loved ones."
 -Melissa Spencer
MSpencer > July 3, 2008 Sparkler Spazz!

We went to a BBQ at our friend's tonight and watched some local fireworks. All the kids had sparklers and were having a great time!

Happy Fourth of July in advance to everyone who celebrates this holiday!
MSpencer > July 2, 2008 Technology Overload!!!

My mind is weary of technology and trying to figure out everything about customizing my smugmug page, learning how to use my new cell phone and learning how to create stuff in Photoshop. I think I am the one to blame for smugmug being down today. Oooops!!!!

At least I have my new cell phone mastered. I liked my old phone but then everyone in my family moved to Verizon so I had to make the leap too. Now I don't know how I lived with the archaic phone I was using. This one is so great and easy to text on. I got a tremendous discount being a teacher...who knew teachers got discounts on Verizon? Not me!

My site was in shambles and is now back to its original format until I can understand the tutorials a bit better. I always seem to miss one little piece. :)
MSpencer > July 1, 2008 Abandoned Bike

Again, I took this over the weekend and posted it today (cheating...I know) but today I had to deal with my ac on the fritz (it's fixed now), my VW Bug broke down last week and it's at the shop (hopefully getting fixed), and an interview for a teaching position (I got the job!!!!). So, needless to say I have had quite a day! Whew! Looking forward to a relaxing day tomorrow of doing nothing.

This photo was taken on my Chautauqua Hike after vising Royal Arch.
Also...for those who care...I am in the process of upgrading and updating my smugmug account so bare with me as I learn how to create Banners, Footers, navigational bares, etc.. It will be quite an experience I am sure. Any tips are welcome and if you have customized your site, send me the link so I can get some cool ideas. I am using Ivar's tutorials right now and they are quite helpful.

I will try and comment on pictures too! Thank you for all of your kind words.
MSpencer > June 30, 2008 Majestic Mountains and Fabulous Flowers

I didn't have time to pick up the camera today or yesterday because I have been so busy. However, I did have time to post this photo from my Sunday hike that I thought some of your mountain lovers would enjoy. The wildflowers are just incredible right now.
MSpencer > June 28, 2008 Royal Arch Hike

Today my hubby and I did a great hike up to Royal Arch. It's a rocky hike but the reward is a large arch and an amazing view of the entire Boulder Valley. I love the paint on the rocks to my husband's left...so Boulder! More pictures are in my hiking gallery from this trip titled Royal Arch.
MSpencer > June 27, 2008 Old Gal Ellie

This is an old gal named Ellie. She is a fourteen year old Chesapeake Retriever that we are pet sitting. She is still active and loves a good game of fetch. I had an extremely fun-filled day and didn't have time to take a photo today (sad) but did take this yesterday and that's close enough. Not anything incredible but it is a portrait, which is my new kick!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and try and get some great shots!
