RandD > 2008.07.24 (Fri) - I was bad, I said I would bike in but I drove into work. I don't know how many times I had to tell the Jury Duty story but the other two developers on my team were as tired of hearing it as I was telling it! I ended up working a long day, I brought dinner home for B. (3 guesses what and the 1st two guesses don't count)

After dinner B and I took off with the camera and went to watch the beavers. We sat around for nearly an hour and caught some good shots. There were at least 4 beavers hanging around and eating. A couple of them came as close at 10 feet. We think they are like the T-Rex in Jurassic Park, if you don't move, they can't see you! Heh..

Well, this was one of the better shots that I took. B took a few good ones as well, I'll post 'em later. Robin called at 9:18 to say she was on her way home, she got a little upset that we went and saw the beavers without her. She has the weekend off so we'll take her tomorrow now that we know the secret to beaver spying...

Until tomorrow,

RandD > 2008.07.24 (Thu) - Wrapped up our deliberation today, the case is over so I get to go back to work tomorrow! I look forward to riding in to work. Brandon had to work today while I was in court. The trial was a criminal trial, resisting arrest was the charge, 4 counts. The defendant was a lawer and decided to defend himself. Turns out that was probably not a good choice. The trial was interesting, not like TV or the movies, that's for sure.

After jury duty I took B out to look at the beaver tree, it is still standing. We forgot that we were supposed to watch Peyton, Chris showed up just after we took off. Oops. It all worked out okay.

Robin got home shortly after we did, we watched the end of a movie Brandon had started earlier. Robin and I were both tired so I decided to get a quick and easy photo in so that we could relax the rest of the night.

Sorry Kayla and Chris about the mix up, sorry we didn't get Peytee.

Until tomorrow,

Darron
RandD > 2008.07.23 (Wed) - Good day, defense wrapped up it's case and we should begin deliberation tomorrow! After jury duty I returned home to the family. I took B for a hair cut, Jen came over for a while, it was nice seeing her. She brought her friend Holley who seems very nice. We stayed in for dinner and then watched Peyton for a while so Chris and Kayla could go to the movies. I ran off for my regular Wed night book study with the guys and then returned home late but in time to see Chris and Kayla off then the four of us ran out to watch the beavers.

We sat silently in the dark an one of the beavers swam right up the the shore just 50 feet in front of us and began walking over to the tree when he spotted us. We could see his eyeballs looking right at us. Well, he was startled and jumped back in the water and disappeared.

After giving up on the beavers, we ran out to the Galleria mall where I grabbed this shot, then we ran to Sonic and we ordered some shakes before dropping Briana off at home at 11PM.

Hope you all had a good day!

RandD > 2008.07.22 (Tue) - Jury duty is very interesting, I would love to share about it but I am not permitted to. I snuck home at lunch time so I could see Brandon and make sure he was okay since he was home alone. Returned to the courtroom wearing an extra layer, they keep it very cool in there. Sitting and listening all day makes for a long day, I will be glad when it is over.

Robin and I took off around 6PM to go see how the beavers have been progressing on the tree. I grabbed some shots of their work and sat in a pile of goose droppings while I was grabbing this shot. We returned home so that I could change and then headed out to our regular Tuesday night crew. We returned to the beavers around 9:15PM and sat quietly and watched them swimming for a while before taking off to get back to Brandon.

Here are the rest of the beaver photos from today.
RandD > 2008.07.21 (Mon) - Well, I showed up for jury duty hoping to get dismissed but it wasn't to be. It is a criminal case but should only take a week by the judges best estimate. I informed my employer, they didn't sound to happy to hear it. I can't talk about the case, but it does look like it will be interesting.

Chris dropped Peyton off at our place around 4:30, we watched her until Kayla got off about 6:30. We ordered dinner, then the four of us took off to look at the tree the beavers have been working on. They are almost all the way through, I expect they will have it downed by the weekend.

We hung out for a while hoping to get another glimse at the beaver family but they did not cooperate. Security came though and hassled B & Bri (couple of teens hanging out alone behind a business complex!!!) but they informed security that they were with us (They drove right past us without a question) and that we were over taking photographs of beavers. The kids said that the security guard seemed a bit skeptical, but he bought their story and left them alone.

We left and were still in need of a photo and Briana told us of a nice view of our city from her Grandma's neighborhood so we drove to Rocklin to grab this shot.

This was my first time shooting RAW, I didn't do any processing. The photo was ISO 1200 so it is fairly grainy. Not the best photo but it was a beautiful view.

Good night,

RandD > 2008.07.20 (Sun) - Robin had to work early again, she woke me while getting ready to work and I got up about 5AM and decided to go look for my daily photo early. I drove out to where I work looking for something that didn't work out so I drove around until I spotted this building that looked very interesting in the morning light. I took several shots but I liked this one the best.

I returned home in time to take B & Bri to church, I skipped service and returned home to begin cleaning. We invited some new friends over for dinner so I spent the morning cleaning, mopping, waxing, and doing yardwork to prepare.

Robin got home around 3PM which didn't leave her much time to prepare, thank goodness they were on IST (India Stretchable Time), this gave us just enough time to have everything ready when they did arrive.

Bobby is a good friend of mine, we do lunch every Thursday. Today we were lucky enough to meet his wife Herlin and their children, Simr and Ungad. Robin prepared a great diner, Kayla and Peyton showed up and the kids all got to swim while we adults got to know each other a little better. It was nice having Bobby and his family over, they are such a nice family. I hope we can do it again soon.

Well, time for me to get to bed, I have jury duty tomorrow!

RandD > 2008.07.19 (Sat) Robin worked very early and got home around 2PM. Brandon and I got up late, I scratched my cornea last week and it hasn't healed so so I had to run to the doctor to have him looked at. I got some drops that should have it feeling better by Monday.

After picking up my prescription, we took the Mustang to Bob's car wash. It got pampered with a wash, and interior cleaning, then we picked up Briana and went to a local car lot to test drive a BMW 325 Ci that Robin has had her eye on for a while. Later, we returned home (without the car) and hung out until Robin got home.

The four of us when swimming for a while, then Robin fired up the BBQ and cooked a TriTip for dinner. After dinner we all ran out to Rancho Cordova to look at a giant spider web but the web was not getting any evening light so we'll have to come back to it some time in the early morning to shoot that. After the web we drove further away from our home looking for a shot, we ended up in the country.

We stopped to pet these beautiful horses and I decided to shoot the two of them in the low evening light. After this, we happened upon an old barn and shot it before returning to our neighborhood to grab some ice cream at Leatherbees.

See you tomorrow,

Darron
RandD > 2008.07.18 (Fri) - Biked in today, I wrapped up the Process Flows and Use Cases that were due by the end of day Monday. I got called up for jury duty and have to report at 9AM Monday so all my deliverables had to be completed today. The ride home was hot and I worked a bit late so I took Sunrise Blvd all the way home.... Bad idea, I may have saved 10 minutes but it would have been safer to take my usual route.

Got home, showered, changed, and took Brandon out to dinner. We went and checked on the "Beaver Tree". It is still standing and while we were there we got to see some of the beavers swimming in the wetlands that they have created, it was pretty neat.

We returned home and Brandon hopped on X-Box live and I started reading a new book I picked up. It is a book on C# business objects. The guys at work have decided that we are going to use CSLA for our business object archictecture so I am going to need to get familiar with it fairly quickly. A couple of chapters in and I realized I needed to grab my daily photo so I opted for this self portrait.

Until tomorrow,

Darron
RandD > 2008.07.17 (Thu) - Took the car today so that I could have lunch with Bobby since he had to watch the kids and couldn't come pick me up at noon. I worked late yesterday so I decided to arrived late today morning to make up for it! Boy did it feel nice to sleep in. Lunch was great, Bobby made paninis and an Indian desert that I already forgot the name of. Both were great! I wrapped up things at work by 4:00 and headed home. I caught Brandon for a few minutes before he took off to his friends house.

So, at this point I am home alone and bored... This photo is what you get when I am home alone and bored. At least my daily photo is done early. Now I look forward to Robin coming home so we can hang out together.

See you tomorrow,

Darron
