Style:

We rode from Nashville to Natchez via the Natchez Trace. Then we headed north through the delta to Tunica and east across northern Mississippi. Finally, we stopped at Pickwick dam and Shiloh National Military Park.

threadkiller > Loaded up and ready to roll!

threadkiller > Fresh fuel for the trusty steeds. This gas station is located right at the entrance to the Nashville end of the Natchez Trace. Next door is the famed Loveless Cafe.

threadkiller > Now, we are under way. The weather here was PERFECT. That would change all too soon...

threadkiller > We stopped at most historic sites, but few offered a "good" photo subject. This is the Meriwether Lewis monument. I think it's broke. (Notice the top)

threadkiller > From Alabama to Tupelo, MS, no pictures were taken due to the looming threat of rain. Eventually, we got soaked with rain, hail, and wind. Riding through lightning and hail is NOT fun! This picture demonstrates the volume that fell. The streak on the right side is water falling from the roof of the hotel. I think the Weather Channel said Tupelo got almost two inches of rain in a few hours. I tend to agree.

threadkiller > The following day was beautiful. This picture and the next are just a couple snaps I took while riding.

threadkiller > It was really interesting to observe the changes in geography and foliage as we traveled south. To me, this is what a ride on the Trace is about.

threadkiller > Somewhere between Tupelo and Jackson, we started seeing dirt roads intersecting the Trace. When I saw the next small road on the GPS, I turned down it. This is what we found. It was nice and curvy; a welcome change!
