John Beal > 20May08 dead wood again. out strolling at lunch, and this pile of wood caught my attention. as I approached, I heard the screech and saw the killdeer take off running, feigning injury like rick pointed out. after getting the big lens out, I went back and there she was, sitting calmly on her eggs. I got a few shots off, then she went at it again. first the screech; then running about ten feet and falling over. she'd stand up to see if I was following her, then run about ten feet and fall over. narcoleptic bird. other killdeer shots in the daily photos. one year ago. f/8, 1/250s, iso 320.

John Beal > 15May08 slow, steady rain all afternoon - not the kind that fills the reservoirs, but certainly does the yards some good. i've got this plant in a cup on the window sill at work, and it's trying to come back to the inside part of the blinds. one year ago. f/8, 1/30s, iso 640.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to use this one, but I had liked the direct reflection of the morning sun. it fits my preferences, being of minimal subject and my favorite canvas, although it's not even close to a similar shot that is, to this day, still one of my favorites. one year ago. f/5.6, 1/160s, iso 200.
