Night-shots > wendigo  > Travel > San Francisco > Twin Peaks at night - 9/08/2007
Taken from the summit of Twin Peaks in San Francisco, California.

It was seriously foggy the night we went up there. I spent the majority of the time taking the 77-shot long exposure pano, which didn't turn out as well as I had liked. One of these days I'd like to find some better pano software than Autostitch.

wendigo > It took me a few tries to get this right and I really enjoyed this exercise in photo nerdery. I timed how long it took the average car to make it around this loop on the way up the north road to Twin Peaks and kept the shutter open from the moment it appeared around the bend until the moment it dropped out of sight. I'd like to spend some more time playing with light and long exposures at night.
wendigo > 77-exposure panorama of eastern San Francisco from the summit of Twin Peaks. I'm somewhat unhappy with the banding and file size of this image. I can't process it at any greater than 50% size in Autostitch without it running out of memory processing it. Also, no matter how much I tweak the settings, I can't seem to get rid of the banding in the sky. Curses! I shall keep the source images at the ready in case the future reveals a superior method of generating panos that will solve these problems.
