Sorry, I couldn't help it. Last one! I just loved this one because usually a disturbance on the waters surface is something I don't particularly appreciate, esp. when taking pictures of reflection. But all the little patters in this really captured my imagination.

Sticks :) I'm back from camping and had a great time. Nearly killed myself climbing on crazy/scary cliffs and managed to snap lots of pictures of... sticks! I was really loving the still water and haunting clouds, may have got a bit carried away... :) You'll find a few more stick pics in my May gallery as make-ups.

This pic was sharpened, cropped a bit and converted to b&w. As were other stick pics.

Today (yesterday in the US but today for me) LadyKates posted a beautiful picture of proteas- a type of South Africa flower. I was truly inspired by her shot and was also shocked to realize I had precious few pictures of proteas. These amazing flowers bloom in spring and summer and are EVERYWHERE! They grow in gutters on the side of roads, all along hill sides. There are a million different kinds and they are all lovely. On the proteas pictured sits a cape sugarbird. These birds feed on the nectar of proteas and have beautiful long tails. I actually took this last November (SA spring), but after seeing LadyKates beautiful proteas I thought it would be appropriate to post it :)

Well... I think my camera is dead. Some of you may remember that it was unwell. I thought the problem had been solved but last night it was complaining that the batteries were low, so a put new ones in- didn't help. After a while it just stopped turning on! :' ( So for today we have a picture of Greenland taken out of an airplane window (circa Feb. 2008).

In the meantime, any suggests on a lower end SLR?

I've been pretty busy as of late and wanted to try something a little more playful. This was inspired by micalngelo's amazing photography of his cat's eye, which are about 100X better than anything I could produce.

Thanks micalngelo for the muse!

A smart car. Something I wish the US would think more about endorsing. Must get great gas millage, although I've raced them on foot up steep hills and won :)

June bugs :)
Any thoughts on the crop? For some reason I felt like the bugs should be a little off center...
