Wood carvers and craftsmen and women are one of the best things about East Tennessee. In Townsend and around Gatlinburg are some of the finest crafts and arts around. Here are a few samples.

 > Wade Richardson is artist, craftsman, woodworker and fine furniture builder. Here he is working on a bench. He also builds one-of-a-kind wood doors, "tree branch" railings and other unique items out of reclaimed lumber and wood, wormy chestnut and barn flooring. He and his mother Jane Richardson recently opened the Mountain Sage Gallery - offering fine crafts, jewelry, woodwork and clothing from Tennessee, North and South Carolina and southern artisans and craftsmen and women.
