Suicide Tide
THE STORY:
Was hiking to a cliff path to get down to a little cove to get some surfer shots when a lifeguard truck arrived. I followed the truck down the steep, rutted path and came upon the car smashed on the rocks below. The lifeguard boat was just arriving, too.
I was the only one there and had my camera so I started shooting as the lifeguard hiked to the crash scene. Another lifeguard was swimming from the boat to shore and there was a paramedic unit arriving.
This is the least graphic image of four taken from 300 feet up the cliff at 12x optical zoom I took about 8 other photos of rescuers, vehicles, etc. I have three more graphic photos all taken from this cliffside location.
My best shot is sadly poignant, the paramedic is checking for a pulse on the victim's neck as the tide rises and waves start to envelop the vehicle, victim and rescuer..
