Do you want to enjoy your flying more and become a better, safer pilot?

The more you understand your aircraft and the aviation environment in which we fly, the more rewarding you'll find every flight. This comes from knowledge, skills being current and overall confidence.

Many people lose some of those skills after obtaining their Private Pilots License (PPL) due to a lack of current flying and the lack of a fresh challenge. This results in a drop in confidence thus making it harder to 'get back into it'. The question is how to rekindle and maintain both your skills and your enthusiasm?

You probably want to do this in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere at a pace and time that suits you, perhaps spread over a full day at a time rather than a short ‘slot’ of an hour or so. Allowing time for a full brief prior to flying and debrief after flying. The removal of some of the time constraints you may have previously experienced allows time to ask more questions and to share the knowledge and experience of your instructor.

An experienced, professional pilot to coach you both on the ground and in the air may be the answer. I can facilitate refresher/tuition sessions in the following areas:-

Any PPL topic and more, for example:

Flight planning and preparation
METAR/TAF interpretation
NOTAM interpretation
Radio telephony ‘brush up’
Circuit brush up e.g. flapless, full flap, glide approach, short field, bad weather circuits, crosswind landings.
General handling e.g. steep turns, climbing & descending turns, safe stall recovery, unusual attitude recovery, spin recovery.
Emergency skills refresher e.g. Engine Failure After Take-Off, Practice forced landings, precautionary landings.
Procedure for a rough running engine, alternator failure, going into cloud.
Overhead joins
Transiting controlled airspace
Radio navigation
Basic instrument flying
Flying a Surveillance Radar Approach (SRA).
Uncertain of position? What can I do?
Stuck on top of cloud? What can be done?
.............etc.

You may say, “I’m qualified, I want to increase my experience and confidence. What next?”

Night rating
New aircraft type approval
Radio navigation & instruments, the next step.
Landing at grass airfields
Visiting different airfields e.g. Controlled versus uncontrolled airfields, ATC vs FISO/air to ground etc
Crossing water such as the Irish Sea, planning and mandatory paperwork e.g. customs, flight plans etc.

or what about just being accompanied on longer flights to help with the work levels/build confidence?

I can arrange for an experienced coach for short session or on longer fly outs as required.
Email me to discuss your requirements and availability of an experienced instructor.
