Caltagirone is a beautiful Baroque town in inner south-eastern Sicily. It owes a lot to the reconstruction after the 1693 Earthquake. One of the most characteristic products is ceramics, you can find shops all over the place. The front of the steps of the steep Scalinata (stairway) is entirely covered in ceramics.
