These are my cats, Valentino (the big tuxedo cat) and Friday XIII (the black Siamese). We just call them Val and Friday. Friday arrived as a 10-week-old kitten when Val was about 3; Val immediately adopted Friday as his little brother. They act just like real brothers. Friday looks up to Val, follows him around, and often comes over and sticks his face in front of Val to be washed. Val snuggles up with Friday and gives him baths, and often plays with him -- but other times, like any big brother, he gets annoyed with Friday's constant horning in on whatever he's doing and just stalks off in annoyance. They're getting older now, and spend more time sleeping together in the warm rays of the afternoon sun coming through the front window.

Added: The cats are now gone, but the memories of joy and fun brought back by these pictures live on. Friday died 7/17/07, age 12. Val died 12/2/08, age 16½. R.I.P.
