Tim Voss > Gateway Fountain, Lyndale Park; Minneapolis, Minnesota

I'm not sure what to make of this one. So I've opened the floor for comments. If anybody likes it, it'll stay. If not, out it goes.
Tim Voss > Tenth Avenue and Interstate 35W Bridges at Dusk; Minneapolis, Minnesota

The arched bridge in silhouette is the Tenth Avenue Bridge. The "white bridge" visible through the arches and spandrels is the new Interstate 35W Bridge.
Tim Voss > Standard Station; Minneapolis, Minnesota

Standard Oil used to have a lot of filling stations hereabouts. This was one of them. Now it's on the way out. I would have missed it entirely if I hadn't driven by on a Sunday morning.
Tim Voss > Old Building on the Greenway; Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Midtown Greenway Bike Trail was once the westbound mainline for the Chicago, Milwaukee, Saint Paul & Pacific Railroad (Milwaukee Road). It's actually a deep trench that the railroad dug to hide itself from the rest of the city. There was a lot of industry along the tracks. It's nearly all residential now, but a few of the old buildings remain. This is one of them. I don't know its history. At this time, it seems to be serving as a garage for garbage trucks.

Tim Voss > Night Rain; Minneapolis, Minnesota

Sometimes a photo is real close to home. I took this one from my balcony. And I was grateful that I hadn't gone looking for night shots. I like shooting in bad weather, but photography at night and in a downpour would be a bit much.
Tim Voss > Tenth Avenue Bridge from the East River Flats; Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Tenth Avenue Bridge was completed in 1929. The original bridge was three thousand feet long. A 1976 rebuild shortened the approaches. This view is looking through one of the bridge's seven arches. The new Interstate 36W Bridge is in the background.
Tim Voss > Old Northern Pacific Railroad Bridge from the East River Flats; Minneapolis, Minnesota

This railroad bridge originally dates to 1887. At that time, the N.P. tracks went right through the University of Minnesota. As time went by, that became an untenable situation for the University. The Northern Pacific agreed to move the bridge. It was renovated and relocated slightly upstream between 1921 and 1924. The Burlington Northern abandoned the bridge in 1981. It was converted to pedestrian and bike traffic in 1999.

Tim Voss > From Under the Tenth Avenue Bridge; Minneapolis, Minnesota

I'm told that this building began life as housing for University of Minnesota faculty.
Tim Voss > Under the 35W Bridge 2; Minneapolis, Minnesta

The new I 35W bridge has two separate spans. I was standing under the north-bound lanes. I decided to excentuate the light between the two bridges.

Tim Voss > Summer Reflections, Minnehaha Creek; Minneapolis, Minnesota

Minnehaha Creek flows out of Lake Minnetonka in the western suburbs. Drought has drastically lowered the lake and the watershed district closed the dam at outlet to the Creek. Meaning Minnehaha Creek hasn't been much these past weeks. Saturday's rain didn't do anything for Lake Minnetonka, but there was enough runoff to bring the Creek up for a couple of days.
Tim Voss > Rain Along the Mississippi; Minneapolis, Minnesota

I'm not wholly convinced by this image. But it documents rain in a drought and so I'm putting it up to see what happens.
Gateway Fountain, Lyndale Park; Minneapolis, Minnesota
