DailyPhotos > Jeff Lynch Photography  > Daily Life > Daily photos 2009
One (ok, maybe two) shot(s) every day. My first year of dailies has been amazing, albeit with some twists and turns. I started on a random day in March. I finished off at Dec. 31 just to make life easier. In this year shot my first wedding, my first set of senior portaits, dozens of bike races, several new buildings. I upgraded to full-frame with the D700, got laid off only to find another job within a week. And last but not least, baby Ashley came along in late november. The majority of the shots from November therefore are daily baby photos.

I did my best to shoot something interesting, and to share the how’s and why’s. Photoshop and Lightroom are awesome and my main tools for post processing.

Thanks for looking; thanks for all the comments.

Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-31 Finishing this year off with one more of my little cutie! I took her binkie, backed up and shot. apparently, I was a littlequick, and managed to catch her turning herself inside out, not realizing that the binkie was no longer there.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-30 This was shot yesterday at our glow-golf outing. I couldn't decide, so I thought I'd run this one today, and baby Ashley yesterday.

The place said no photos, but I assumed that meant flash. I threw on my 50mm 1.4 and shot away. No one had any problems.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-29 We (and I mean my wife) dressed Ashley up super-cute for going out in public today. I gota couple natural-lighting shots before we left, but it's always hectic trying to get out the door these days. I managed to get her shirt on backward. Apparently, the buttons go in the back.

I've also managed to pick up a twist on my cold. I feel super-crummy, and managed to sleep for the entire afternoon. Hopefully, I don't give this to baby Ashley. hoping hoping hoping!
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-28 Ahh, the joys of fatherhood. I set my brother in-law-up and let him 'take as many pictures as he could'. I think she's cute even when she's crying. Somehow at the family gatherings, my wife or I gets to hold her when this is taking place. When she quiets down, she's whisked away again.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-27 We got together with my wife's family today to celebrate Christmas. I ended up taking a ton of pics. I loved this one because of her expression and the card she's holding. She's a cutie, but don't you dare take away her 'binky'.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-26 I cheated a bit here...can you tell? This peregrine falcon was photographed near bow, wa. He was hanging out right near the road and made for some awesome shots thanks to the amazing sun which has decided to grace us for a couple days.

And for posterity...everyone is now back on the Skagit. We saw our friends the short-eared owls, kestrels, merlins, cooper's hawks, geese, swans, harriers, eagles, rough-legged hawks, peregrines, and red-tailed hawks today!
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-25 Merry Christmas everyone! I couldn't resist sharing three shots today. Too many? I'll let you judge. One of Nolan opening, one of Claire playing with the magic puppy (that does flips), and one of our baby doll, with Claire's baby doll.

Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-24 Ashley met her great-grandmother on my wife's side yesterday. Ashley gave her a big thrill by playing smiley for her. This was a truly touching moment, although I didn't quite capture kiddo's smile in time. She cried shortly after this, and the moment was lost.

I think I did more post on this than any picture I've done to date. I played with levels to add contrast, I added a layer for the black & white, I added a layer for the tint, and I added a layer for a fresco filter, and the vignette. Vignettes are not friendly in PS and I'd be happy to know if anyone has any good tricks. I did a round selection from one corner to the other, then added lots of feathering, and filled the whole thing with black. I also tried playing with the levels, but it didn't look right.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-23 We've managed to give Ashley our cold. We took her to the doc just to make sure because we're paranoid first-time parents. Just a cold is the good news. I dare not bug her for pictures though. Sleep is so precious for us all now.

We stopped by last night to have a look at the display for the house on the left. The house on the right made the day for me.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-22 I managed to get some real smiles today. These seem to be coming more and more frequently. She's beginning to copy facial expressions, and this is the one she most often sees looking back at her.

I softened everything, and played with the levels of the clothes. I debated SC, but it didn't look right. I needed the subject of the photo to be that darling smile, and SC took away from that.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-21 This is another shot from yesterday and the super-cute hat Auntie Tiffany made. Baby Ashley is starting to get some facial expressions that are absolutely adorable. I think she was checking out an incoming airplane/finger.

My bro-in-law came back from Ketchikan today for the winter break. I'll be needing to catch a few shots of he and the little one before he heads out :D.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-20 Auntie Tiffany was kind enough to make another cute hat for baby Ashley today! Sooooo cute!
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-19
I had a great but exhausting day of eagle hunting with my dad and bro. This young bald eagle was kind enough to hang out right by the road on the south skagit highway along the skagit river in WA.

No change other than a crop here.
