DailyPhotos > Jeff Lynch Photography  > Daily Life > Daily photos 2009
One (ok, maybe two) shot(s) every day. At the 7 month mark in my first year, it's looking like it's going to be an amazing year. I started on a random day in March. By the end of the year when the next random day in march rolls around, I’ll have shot my first wedding, my first set of senior portaits, dozens of bike races, several new buildings. I will also have upgraded to full-frame with the D700. And last but not least, I’ll have a baby girl. Something tells me that the majority of the shots from November on will be daily baby photos.

I will continue to try and shoot something interesting, and keep doing my best to share the how’s and why’s. Photoshop and Lightroom will assist. Both are amazingly powerful, and I’ll try to share anything I do in ‘post’.

Thanks for looking; thanks for all the comments.

Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-14 After yesterday's creepy eye (mine), I thought I needed something to get the tone of my dailies a bit more upbeat. My niece is so cute. She was doing a bit of modelling for her mommy here.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-12 Our due date has come, and gone. Now the countdown to baby time begins the overtime period.

This is the second of my daily double. I took this early in the day, thinking I'd have nothing to shoot. Since I don't like shooting myself, I though more post processing was in order...guess I got carried away :D.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-12 My second of the daily double. My lovely wife got me a cupcake :D. I have the best wife!
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-11 You know it's a rough week for photos when there are two of my ugly mug. This one, however, has a purpose. I've joined the Movember movement to spread the word and do a bit of fundraising for colon and testicular cancer research. Please check out my page at: http://us.movember.com/mospace/357034/. Thanks for looking!
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-10 Baby due in two days! Not much to shoot when it gets dark and is raining at 4:30. Odie always makes for an interesting shot when he'll hold still.

Still working on light vs. dark and contrast in camera rather than PS. I did add a bit of black to this one, and took out the TV that was in the upper left. No filters. A little color correction, a little crop, and a little level adjustment today.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-09 I've been into the filters on photoshop a bit more the past couple weeks. This one is the poster edges filter. We went for a walk for coffee :D. It's getting tough to find light to shoot with darkness coming to Seattle at 4:30.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-08 I was too lazy to get off the couch and find something to shoot today. So, I shot one of my least favorite things...me :D. I was playing on my laptop and noticed that only half of my face was lit. I thought it was a bit different than the even light I usually go for. I upped the effect more and changed to b&w in PS.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-07 The rainbow faded very quckly, so I didn't have a chance to get any of my settings right. I dropped the exposure a bunch, but was still not able to bring back the second rainbow (glimpse on the right side) because I'd overexposed way too much, and couldn't get anythign where it needed to be in time.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-06 A detour on the way home led me to alki. I feel like I can always find something interesting to shoot on this detour.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-05 Another shot from the weekend because it was rainy miserable all day, and dark before I got home. I'm just ifnishing processing this set, so it seemed appropriate.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-04 Another lightless evening. I shot this on my way to meet my bro for some racquetball. Always a fun way to get an awesome workout!

I bit of cropping, color correction, and contrast increase.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-03 Daylight savings time is history. Therefore, there's little hope of getting any shots outside unless I manage to pull something off during work.

I was working on my shots from this weekend still. I really goofed up the colors on this one (white balance off with lots of saturation = baaaad photographer), so I dismissed it earlier. However, thanks to the awesomeness of Lightroom, I was able to work some magic, and am really happy with the way this one came out!
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-02 I ended up iwth a bit of time today to wander around on my lunch hour near my old work. The street performers at Pike Place market are always interesting photographic subjects.

I've always loved the market in the winter time. Way less people than the summer, but all the same fare. I took a ton of pictures, but all in search of that one magical 'photo of the day'.

I've been considering using a crazy filter in PS for a bit, and really thought this one lended itself to some treatment beyond the normal contrast and exposure adjustments. The effect was created with the 'fresco' filter. I then added contrast to make all the blacks as black as possible without totally losing the face.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-1 Another shot of yesterday's cyclocross race. Very little explanation needed...awesome group of folks who don't take themselves too seriously on Halloween!

A bit of contrast added, and saturation taken away in post.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 10-31 I went to three completely separate evens and took photos at all of them today. First, I went to see my nephew's soccer game. Next, I went to see a cyclocross race. Finally, we went trick or treating with the kids in the evening. Cool day. Overwhelming amount of photos! Three dailies...on from each 'shoot'.

This one is from the cyclocross race. This sport is a 'cross' between road riding and mountain biking. It's ridden on a bike which looks much like a road bike but has different brakes, nobby tires, and more clearance at the fork and the back for mud clearance. Obstacles are placed which require riders to dismount, run with their bike, then hop back on. The hop back on is the tricky part....this is an illustration of how it is to be done. Inner thigh of right leg hits the seat, then you slide on over with the more sensitive bits :-D.
2009 11-14 After yesterday's creepy eye (mine), I thought I needed something to get the tone of my dailies a bit more upbeat. My niece is so cute. She was doing a bit of modelling for her mommy here.
