On this trip, in January 2003, I had a GPS unit and so am able to precisely locate positions from which photos were taken. This time I was accompanied by district officials and my friend Phuoc. The officials were very restrictive about where I could go. They also don't want you to be alone with the local villagers. Basically, they didn't want me to go past the village areas by myself or with locals (say on a motorbike), but they also didn't want to go where we couldn't drive.
