Prego Peeps
The week of March 30th, 2009, Prego admin posted the following theme:
Lurkers and all board posters please introduce yourself!
This got an amazing response!! So all the amazing post wouldn't be lost eventually, I've saved them all here. Scroll down to see all our wonderfull Prego friends and their intro's! Whew!! Just over 300 intro post!! Just curious what happened to the other 1700 (plus) of our other Prego dolly friends out there!!

I've put the dates of the post in the picture descriptions, and have put the individual's person's post. I only chose one picure from each post, if there was one. If you have a link to your website and there was a picture on there, I "borrowed" it to give you a picture identity! Through time I'll be sure to see if I can find a pic of one of your dolls to substitute (if there isn't a pic of the real you), through the individual post - in time. If you have another one you would like to provide please feel free to email ME (click the ME for my email popup) and I will change it out (if your shy even a thumbnail will do!!). I do ask that I be able to verify the email it it's coming from you on the board - i.e. being able to locate your email in a post or in an PM. Otherwise anyone from anywhere could ask to update your Intro info. Thanks for your understanding.

If your new or delurking at anytime and have posted an intro, or changing or adding to an intro (that's been posted) - please let me know of the new or updated intro post, and I'll be glad to make it permanent here!! Also, if I messed up, please send me a link to your original post and I'll add you or fix my error.

Thanks LeeAnn and Alexandra, Prego board owners, for all you do!!!

Final note: Each pic belongs to the individual it's listed under (except the Prego logo, which belongs to the Prego board owners). These pics may be subject to it's owner's copyright.

About me, my health, lots of words and 1 picture:

you know The dr thought I had 4 heart attacks, a blockage in my heart or horrid stress. I had a stress test and a shot of radioactive stuff and had pictures taken of my heart. I guess the good news is it is stress. Stress that can show the symtoms of a heart attack. Caretaking is hard. I moved in with my Mom about 5 years ago, she had 3 strokes, lots of TIA's and has dementia. She is very difficult to take care off, thus the stress.

On to the fun stuff. As a kid, I hated dolls, and spent my youth in the garage working on cars with my Dad. Or playing out in the dirt with my Brothers toys. A domestic goddess I am not

I am 62, divorced and have a Chihuahua named Harley. I had another one named Braveheart, but my Mom fed him Chicken bones and after 3 surgerys and lots of money she died. My Mom did not do it on purpose, but it still hurts.

Other things about me, I am of the Inuit and Yupik people, very proud of my roots and decorate my area with things from my culture. I believe you must keep the past alive to keep the future.
I am a published poet with my Indian poems. Before I moved in with my Mom, I was always dancing and going to PowWows. I also love living history shows. My life is very nature orentaited.

I can fly a plane, ride a motercycle, have built a house from the ground up. (with an X). Raised pygmy Goats, Bailed our own hay. (loved living on a farm. Love primitive camping, and have camped on my own in 7000 acres.

I have moved around 35 times in my life, just do not like to put down roots.

I started to sew for Barbie when my Daughter was small. When she was about 8 we discovered doll house miniatures.

For about 30 years I always had my own business, doll house miniatures, artist teddy bears, primitive crafts. I did mini, teddy bear and doll shows for years. When I moved in with my Mom all this stopped because of she can not be left alone.

About 7 years ago I found the Poco barbie doll, which was the begining of my down fall. My first big doll was a repaint Gene, from someone on this board. (got from ebay) She is the only repaint that I did not buy second hand.

Now I have too many dolls and not enought money

For the last month I have not been on Prego, due to a lack of money and the stress. My Son told me to get off the computer, and do something fun. So I have been making a Witch house in 1/12 scale. She started out to be a nice witch, but as things went along she became evil. Will show pictures when I am done.

Most of my dolls are Vampires, Witches, Goth. Or at least dressed in black.

I have also been sewing, getting back to remember how to use my machine Did pretty good, except I had one dress all done except for the train, I sewed it the wrong way and it is wrong sides showing!!!! So that is when I started to make the Witch house.

(In this pic) From left to right is me, my DIL (the big bump is my first grandbaby) and my Daughter.

LeeAnn started you all off so I will close the week with "About Me" its been THE best getting to to know you all this week, so first let me say thank-you to each and every one of you for posting your stories and pictures

I am a Brit but have a Swedish and French heritage and four years ago we wanted to have an adventure so now we live in Spain.

My background is in Hairdressing and then later on I re-trained in Design and since moving to Spain I now have been lucky enough to work as the Artistic Director for FDQ magazine, a dream job working with THE most talented people and of course loads of Dolls!

Collecting dolls started for me with a visit to the USA and an FAO store with a huge Gene display, nearly 15years ago now. I bought a Gene for Kimberley (my lovely step daughter) who was Barbie obsessed, but it was me who actually played with the Gene and soon after came Tyler and Sydney.....and then my own doll obsession began! I love ALL dolls and have one of just about everything I think, including vintage Sindy and Pippa dolls from childhood.

Prego,...... LeeAnn has told you all how it began but I can add the "Name", this came from a family Holiday in Italy where just about everyone seemed to be saying "prego" and I just loved the sound of this greeting and on my return home I run the name by LeeAnn and she also liked it for its international welcome and so Prego was born.

I hope you enjoy these pictures, all my love and big huge thanks to everyone for a great week...hugs, Alexandra x

Hamish (is) my Westie who is the baby of the house at only 2years! (pic in original post)
Megan my Welsh Terrier who is an old lady and enjoying living in Spain. (pic in original post)

Why not come and see whats going on in my Attic.

I usually Lurk, but do post when I can>>>>>>>>msg:

Hi, my name is Alicia (37yrs old) and I live in Addison IL with my husband (Paul)and 8 yr old daughter (Kaitlin). I also, have a 22yr old stepdaughter (Jennifer), she lives with my mother inlaw. Usually, I lurk due to being at a very boring data entry job. We just moved into a new house and we just go settled in, so I hope to post more often in the evenings.

It all started about 3yrs ago that I found Gene on ebay and from there found Prego. I've met some great people here and love all the talent. Some of you have seen my masquerade masks, well that came from the courage I got from Prego.

Currently, I only have 6 dolls, 1-Gene, 2- Sydneys, 1-Tyler, 1-Jane and 1-Betsy. I'm hoping to change that in the near future.

Meet me :)

Hi! My name is Chelsea, but I'll also answer to Ame (pronounced Ah-mee) or CC. I have been sewing for dolls for almost ten years now, but I've just recently begun to sell my creations.

What do you need to know about me? I'm a twenty-four-year-old college student from Iowa, finishing up a Theatre degree. I hope to someday get into costuming - whether for people or dolls! I love to read, write, dance, and sew; (obviously ) I love movies, especially those with beautiful costumes!

In fact, the costumes in Star Wars, especially the prequel trilogy, are what inspired me to pursue costuming in the first place. I LOVED Queen Amidala's gowns in Episode I, and then I fell even more in love with Padmé's wardrobe in Episode II. I have actually made three of her costumes for myself, with a website dedicated to them: blue-eyedpadme.com

I've been in love with dolls for as long as I can remember. My first love is Samantha, from American Girl. I've had her since I was seven, and I've been sewing for her since I was fourteen.

Then in 2004 I discovered the wide, wonderful world of Robert Tonner, and I haven't looked back since. I currently own six 16" ladies (thanks to the generosity of a wonderful Pregoer!), and three 10" Tiny Kitty dolls, who are my models and muses. I love sewing for both scales, and I'll occasionally get back to sewing for my American Girls, too.

Oh, I also have a OOAK Padmé doll!

She was repainted by Laurie Leigh, and I love her to death! I need to make more costumes for her, though.

Super Last Minute Intro~ Huge novel, I'm sorry!!

Hi, my name is Amy, and I started collecting Tonner dolls two years ago when I saw their booth at New York Comic Con and picked up the special Harley, Poison Ivy, and Batgirl (who was originally going to go live with my sick boy, but she never ended up making the trip!). Now, besides the DC Stars, I also have many Agnes Drearys, Re-Imagination girls, and even a few Tyler and Sydneys.

Right now I'm living alone and unemployed in my nifty rent controlled apartment in the Bronx. I do have three room mates-- but they don't help pay the rent at all, as they are my three ferrets. Yes, they are very naughty, and rush to run into the doll cabinet whenever it is open (even if it is only for ten seconds). Back when I only had three dolls, I thought they were out of ferret-reach. They went months happily sitting on a shelf and my tv until...one day I walked in on Batgirl on the floor, being eaten! Well...not her, but her gloves. Ferrets LOVE anything that is made of that squishy variety of plastic. The cushions on pens, and video game joysticks are a favorite, so a good portion of my time is spent trying to keep those things away from their mouths. Ferrets are notorious for eating things they shouldn't, and ending up with emergency vet bills!!

Anyway...poor Batgirl. Her gloves were punctured all over the place, even though she had been a victim for less than five minutes. Somehow they are able to hold together, enough that they still fit on her hands. Shortly after that...I started shopping for a cabinet.

I have a degree in Biology and Chemistry, and up until January 3 I worked at Columbia University doing research in the Department of Prevenitive Medicine and Nutrition. I got laid off due to a lack of funding, since our lab exceeded funds and was down to only one research grant, which was probably not going to be renewed this year. So I was the first one to get the axe! Unemployment benefits have been just enough to pay my rent, utilities and debt (Student Loans and er....dolly debt). I had to go a few months without health insurance, but thanks to a recent act passed by Congress, I can actually afford Cobra Benefits. Which is a very good thing, because one month for just one of my medications without insurance was over $300...! Luckily, my parents are still around, and were able to lend me the money for it. I will be getting reimbursed for them too, once my coverage gets reinstated.

Since being laid off...I feel like I have lost all productivity. Which is strange, because before I was, I was under a lot of work-related stress, and was actually starting to look for a new position within Columbia. I have had many interviews since then, but right now it really is a hard time to find a new job anywhere. I have a year to find a new position at Columbia to keep all my benefits I had in my old job, so...I'm still pretty hopeful I'll be able to find something eventually. I have also applied to many places outside of Columbia, as well, but I've yet to ever have an interview outside the university.

Up until November of 2007, I had lived with my boyfriend of nearly eight years! After a surprise diagnosis of leukemia he moved back in with his parents all the way in Colorado. The plan was after the first month of chemo he would return....but he ended up having a bad reaction to a drug that gave him pancreatitis. After that, it just didn't go away, and got to a point where the pancreatitis was having critical blood loss, and they needed to use fluroscopy to try to stop it. 8 hours later....they were able to stop the bleeding, but the procedure left him on a respirator. We were all very happy he survived, but he remained an inpatient for over five months. He also has a horrible radiation burn on his back, that is still healing after more than a year. A lot of his everyday pain is usually due to the burn these days, as nerves are regrowing. He can't receive a skin graph for it, or any other surgeries, until his treatment is over, sometime in 2012.

People are treated for leukemia on the child protocols up until age 40, so even though he was 24 at the time of diagnosis, he is usually a patient of the Denver Children's hospital. The protocol is also ridiculously intense! He will basically be taking daily chemo (in the form of a pill) for the next three years. Now that he is in maintenance phase of treatment, he will only receive IV chemo once a month, though, instead of once a week. I have been waiting a very long time for him to come back and live with me in New York, but hopefully it will finally happen in May or June.

By the way, doll collecting and ferret ownership happened while he was sick. Just two things I had to take up to keep me going here, while I am patiently waiting for his return! I actually had started researching ferrets a month or so before he got sick...but he didn't want to even discuss them, as he thought they were mean. He said, 'maybe a bunny.'

I got my first two shortly after the pancreatitis incident. Or rather, my mom picked them up for me, and had them waiting in my room the day I got back from visiting him in Colorado. A month later, I picked up my third one. At first, he wasn't too happy...but now he sees how much they make me happy. Once he's here and living with them I hope he falls in love with the little fuzzbutts. Right now I have three little boys....but I have been wanting a little girl.... For April Fool's I told him I had adopted TWO more. Um...he wasn't too happy. The family stays at three unless he gives the okay for an expansion.

And as for the dolly end of things, right now he is slated as my guest for the upcoming Tonner convention!

Besides dolls and ferrets, I am also a big reader of comics, mostly DC. I love television shows by Joss Whedon (Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse). I'm also a big fan of Arrested Development, Futurama, and Bones. I'm a big gamer, and own one of...just about every video game console out there. I like to draw, but chose to go to school for science instead of art. Sometimes I think about going back to school...but I can never make up my mind. One day I want to be a vet, the next...comic book artist! Since I can't build any resolve, maybe its just not meant to be. Maybe, or maybe not, I'm still thinking it over. It's been hard for me to make any long term decisions for awhile! This year I will turn 28...so I have two years left before the big 3-0.... LOL, I know some of you will want to smack me over the head for thinking life as I know it, is over at 30.

Since being unemployed, it's been pretty hard to resist getting any new dolls. I picked up a ton at the factory sale, thanks to my mom. Once I get a new job, I might have a chance to pick up an original Mera. She's my grail doll of the moment, even with those dorky flipper feet! I also dream of one day getting a Tonner BJD (Lady G!! My Re-imagination girls need her around...although I am a Sydney lover). And if I win the lotto, I will track down a FAO Wonder Woman trunk.

Oh! I almost forgot, don't feel too bad for me being unemployed and living alone, because I just got back from a lovely trip to the Rivera Maya area of Mexico. My boyfriend and his family went to a very fancy resort to celebrate the start of Maintenance chemo. His parents paid for me to join them, and even if I'm still covered in hives from all the extra sun, I'm very glad I was able to come and keep the sick boy company. I also discovered Tamarind Margaritas...very delicious!

I love Prego, and read it almost every day, usually when I am having trouble sleeping, or when I wake up, or um...pretty much any time I have free.
 > Ana in Spain - Posted April 5th, 2009

A bit of me and my first AG, SARANAI!!!

My name is Ana and I live in Spain, in a city in the north called Zaragoza. I´m 42 years, I am married and I have a son and a daughter, they are twins (7 ½ years).

I began to collect dolls in 2002, I began with an Spanish doll called Nancy de Famosa, because it was the doll I played when I was a little girl. First time I saw a Tonner was in 2004, it was a Brenda Starr of a friend of mine, and when I saw the pics I felt in love with her. I bought two Brendas and when I opened the box I couldn´t believe how beautiful they were!!!! So, Brenda Starr is very special for me.

After my collection began to grow, and grow and grow, and now I´m not sure how many dolls I have. I bought my first repainted in 2005 and now I have 91 repainted Tonners. I have a web where you can see some of my dolls, it´s my doll room: La habitacion de Ana ( http://www.ana66.com/ )

To write in English is really difficult for me, when I began to read Prego I didn´t understand many words you use, like FS, FT, WTB, WTT, TIA, TTYS, ROFL, LOL …… it was really difficult for me to understand your posts!!! Now I have learned a bit but when I see a long post I begin to sweat blood!!

For me was incredible to find Prego (thanks, dear Lita!!!) because I couldn´t believe there was so many doll collectors in the world!!! And it was wonderful for me to see the repainters and the dressmaker posting on Prego. I have found wonderful friends here and for me is a pleasure to have friends all over the world!!

And finally I want to introduce you my first AG, she´s a repainted Live Wire by LOLAX, she´s fabulous. I want to say a big thanks to Karine from Fleur de Lys for this beautiful doll and wigs, and thanks to Tony in Berlin for the dress and the original wig.

Big hugs and enjoy SARANAI!!!

Saranai looks wonderful with all the wigs!!!

 > Angel in CA - Posted April 2nd, 2009

Bit of an introduction :)

I'm Angel, originally from the Netherlands, moved to AZ nine years ago and then to CA (small town Tehachapi - I am definitely not a Cali girl) two years ago.

I'm afraid I'm a lurker and not an active participant. I mainly collect smaller dolls, Barbies and FR. My collection theme is cultural dolls and when the Memoires of a Geisha dolls came out, I got big into Tonner dolls and made my own little cultural collection with the 16 inchers.

I don't purchase larger dolls anymore but I do love coming here to look at repaints - the larger dolls seem to provide the most amazing canvas for the talented artists here. I don't respond to posts often, but I want to let you all know I do enjoy looking at the pictures here. I am a doll pin collector and I appreciate all the help I got last week when I inquired for information.

My life outside dolls.... my husband jokingly says that my occupation is professional volunteer. I work with a Doberman rescue group, and we have three foster dogs at home. I also work at the rescue, where we have 40-50 dogs looking for homes and in sanctuary. If you're bored and want to see some cute pet pictures, take a look at my website, link below, where all the foster cats and dogs that have lived with us in the last 9 years are pictured.

*dolly hugs*
