2009 Daily Photos - but not every day - Dream Hat Photography - Gerry Daniel

Photos for the Daily Photo Community are in this gallery but I am not shooting every day. So "daily" for this gallery doesn't mean every day. There's not even a loose schedule. There are so many talented photographers in the Daily Photo Community, I just like to keep my foot in the door so I can be tangentially associated with them.

as i have been photographing Turkey Creek Nature Preserve, the flowing water has captured my imagination and I have been working on a body of work that I am calling waterscapes, there is a new gallery for the waterscape images, i invite you to visit and see the photographs that are watercolors created by nature. It is a new gallery and new images will be added as they are processed.

Waterscapes have captured my imagination as I photograph the natural beauty at Turkey Creek Nature Preserve. No special effects are used with these photographs. They are the result of photographing reflections in the water at various aperture settings and shutter speeds to highlight the texture and color reflected in the water.

Some people felt that the photo from yesterday had an off kilter horizon. The fog and the debris in the water on the left side gives it the feeling of a slanted horizon.

This photograph was made at Turkey Creek Nature Preserve in Alabama. It has been designated as "Forever Wild" by the State of Alabama and will be protected and preserved. It is part of a group of locations across Alabama. Conserving the natural beauty of these locations is important to all of us for now and the future.

my work flow and processing for the photographs evolves over time, for the most part i don't go back and revisit images that I shot and processed in the past, this photograph is one of the exceptions so i am going to call it a remix

the trees all around were full of leaves in various states of change for autumn, this is a pile of leaves that had been pushed to the side of a walkway, just trash that most people never notice
