Ah yes....Lori's big surprise....her Magical Mystery Tour. "Just meet us at Macy's at 7pm." Well, we did but where are we going? Never mind she says as she guides us, circuiitously, onto a PATH train. We are then transported through a tunnel under the Hudson to Journal Square in Jersey City of all places!

What are we doing here??! "Don't you worry", says our tour guide....just come across this plaza with me.

We find ourselves in a very old and, yes magical, movie palace: the splendid Lowe's Jersey, a theater from another time -- the 20's, 30's and 40's, when going to a movie was a night out. Apparently,, it's being rescued, preserved and renovated with the help of a citizen's group: The Friends Of Lowes.

We pay a mere $6.00 and are treated to a wonderful, old black and white film. My God! It's Bogart and Hepburn in Sabrina. And popcorn is a buck!

After, we head back on the PATH and disembark at Christopher Street in the Village and dinner at a sweet Italian restaurant on Hudson Street: Valdino West.
