NITROGEEZERS > The AA/GS final came down to Sean Reneria vs. Ed Moss. Renteria, near lane, ran a fine 6.763/207.32 for the win, while Moss had to lift at one point to straighten out and trailed at 6.82.
NITROGEEZERS > The Junior Fuel B final pitted Bud Hammer vs. Don Enriquez. It was a close start, but Hammer (near lane) had the slightly stronger car and won with a 7.32 to Enriquez's 7.37.
NITROGEEZERS > John Haire faced J.D. Zink for the Junior Fuel A trophy. Haire had the better timeslips through elim's and was slightly favored. Haire cut an excellent .023 light, but really didn't need it to roust Zink 6.99/7.03.
NITROGEEZERS > A-Fuel trophy run and it's Kin Bates (near lane) racing Mike Austin. As noted in our review, it was a "hot potato" race, as Austin lost on a foul start, then Bates crossed the centerline to hand the win back to Austin!
NITROGEEZERS > The big final round in Top Fuel, with longtime racer Denver Schutz taking on fast newcomer Brad Thompson. Thompson had both consistency and better performance numbers coming in, and Schutz felt obliged to try to holeshoot him. It backfired, as he redlit by .037.
NITROGEEZERS > They stayed in it to half track, then seeing the outcome was already decided both lifted. It was a "first win" for Brad Thompson in NTF competition, although not as sweet as it might have been!
NITROGEEZERS > "Vagabond" and "Magicar" meet at the Panama Road In-'n-Out after the race for the traditional "last cackle" and CHRR farewell party.
NITROGEEZERS > Brian Kaplan in "Magicar" and Jessica Anderson in "Vagabond" ride out the last nitroflame salute to a memorable weekend, as a grateful group of stalwart fans bid goodbye for another year.
