Nir > The Bahai Faith was founded in 1844 by Bahaullah who teaches of one God, one human race and that all the world's religions have been progressive stages in the revelation of God's will and purpose for humanity. The Bab was a Persian who announced he had been sent by God to prepare humanity for a new age and the imminent appearance of the Bahaullah, a messenger of God even greater than himself. The Bab was martyred in 1950. His remains were preserved and concealed for over 60 years, eventually transferred to the Holy Land and interred in 1909 in a mousoleum on the slopes of Mount Carmel in Haifa Israel. The colonnade and goldem dome, designed by Canadian architect William Sutherland Maxwell, were completed in 1953. Shot June 2007.

Nir > Rosh HaNikra is a geologic formation in Israel, located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, in the Western Galilee near the border with Lebanon. It is a white chalk cliff face which opens up into spectacular grottos. Chiselled out into labyrinthine grottoes filled with seawater formed by the geological and biological processes and by waves lapping on the soft rock, the grottos are cavernous tunnels formed by sea action on the soft chalk rock. The total length is some 200 meters. They branch off in various directions with some interconnecting segments. In the past, the only access to them was from the sea and experienced divers were the only ones capable of visiting. Today a cable car takes visitors down to see the grottos. Shot June 2007.

Nir > Cesarea, Caesarea, Caesarea Maritima , Caesarea Palaestina, a city built by Herod the Great about 13BC. Today, the city lies on the Mediterranean coast of Israel about halfway between the modern day cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa. The city was described in detail by 1st century Jewish historian Josephus for the massacre of Jews at this place led to the Jewish rebellion and to the Roman war. The civil life of the new city began in 13 BC, when Caesarea was made the civil and military capital of Judaea, and the official residence of the Roman procurators and governors, Pontius Pilatus, praefectus and Antonius Felix. After the Jewish revolt led by Simon Bar Kokhba, which ended with the destruction of Jerusalem, Caesarea became the center of Christianity in Palestine. Shot May 2007.

Nir > Stock photo of rowboats docked on the Island of Bled looking towards the mainland. Mountains and trees reflect in the deep blue lake water. Shot in Bled Slovenia in October 2006. The Bled Region is situated in the heart of the Slovanian Alpine regine with Mt. Triglav of the Julian Alps looming over the valley. The rivers Sava Bohinjka and Radovna made their way to the center of the region - Lake Bled. Surrounded by green countryside, highly arable land, lush pastures and forests and rivers rich in fish, it was settled in the early Middle Ages. Bled rose from historic anonymity in 1004 when it was assigned to the Brixen Church by King Henry II. Bled Castle was first mentioned in 1011. Bled is today a very touristic city attracting travelers from all over the world.
