When the cemetery was established, the hillside was mostly treeless, covered with prairie flowers and grasses. Now a stand of mature Douglas firs towers over the site.

Motor vehicles are not allowed in the cemetery. A network of walking trails allows the visitor to wander and explore at a leisurely pace.
