Having arrived into Whitby with 75029 leading, K1 2-6-0 No. 62005 was on the rear of the train from Pickering and will now lead back to Grosmont with 1T15, the 18:00 departure. Basking in glorious evening light after the excitement of the day's celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the Royal opening of the NYMR, things have now quietened down. 17:41, Wednesday 1st May 2013. Lambton 0-6-2T No. 29 had been turned to face north at Pickering for the return run of the 40th anniversary special to Grosmont. The engine had to come off the train there as it is not registered for running on Network Rail and was replaced by 75029 for the remainder of the trip into Whitby, with 62005 still on the rear. Formalities at Pickering now over, Lambton No. 29 moves into the headshunt to run-round the 40th anniversary special train before returning to Grosmont, where the loco came off the train to be replaced by 75029 for the onward run to Whitby. 15:49, Wednesday 1st May 2013. Lambton 0-6-2T No. 29 and K1 2-6-0 No. 62005 have now arrived at Pickering station with the 40th anniversary special train to celebrate the Royal opening of the NYMR. After posing with some of the volunteers and staff from over the 40 years, No. 29 came off the train to be turned and run-round, whilst 62005 remained on the rear for the run back to Grosmont and on to Whitby. 15:42, Wednesday 1st May 2013.
