February 16, 2013 - Yellowstone National Park. I took advantage of some vacation time from work and headed out to Yellowston National Park. Visiting Yellowstone in the Winter season has been on my bucket list for quite some time, and I'm really glad I took the time from work to visit the park. I booked a snowmobile tour of the park with an outfit called Scenic Safari Adventures. This shot was taken a few miles in from the south entrance. I don't recall seeing a sign that identified the name of this particular waterfall. The weather was not ideal for photography - extremely overcast skies and snowing fairly heavily. I thought that since the light was so flat on this particular day, this particular shot would translate well into a B&W.

Camera: Nikon D700 Lens: 24-70 f/2.8 (24mm) 30 sec, f/16, ISO 400 Tripod: Gitzo GT1541T Ballhead: RRS BH-30 Lee Filters filter holder, Lee .9 Graduated Filter Processed using: Lightroom 4, Nik Dfine 2.0, Photoshop CS6 This image was captured in Ocean Beach, CA. Another long exposure for this image and I needed 30 seconds to get the shot. The long exposure captured the last bit of light and color from the sunset and added the smooth effect to the water. I was lucky to capture the moon even though the wide angle of the lens made it pretty small in the final image. This location is always challenging to photograph because there are so many people who come out to watch the sunsets and I always setup to respect their views as well as other photographers.

February 15, 2013 - During a recent road trip, I found myself trekking through the small town of Farson, Wyoming. Farson is located in the south west section of Wyoming, and has a population of a little more than 300 people. When I travel through small towns like this, I like to stop and photograph the town's post office. This is a shot of the post office that serves the town of Farson, Wyoming.
February 15, 2013 - During a recent road trip, I found myself trekking through the small town of Eden, Wyoming. And I do mean small town - it has a population of less than 300 people, and most definitely does NOT have a Walmart! As I drove through the town, I caught glimpse of this small, log constructed church that was situated right off of the highway. I knew immediately that I had to stop and photograph this gem. Unfortunately, I have not been able to learn much about the history of this church. A sign that sits in front of the church identifies it as the Oregon Trail Memorial Episcopal Church. But beyond that there is little information on the Internet about this Church - or the town of Eden. I was able to find out from a fellow Flickr photog (eddie_tk) that this Church was built in 1937, and has the distinction of not having a lock on the front door. I didn't know this at the time I stopped to photograph the Church, else I would have certainly have tried to get some interior shots. I would have guessed that this church was much older that 1937. I would have guessed that this Church was constructed in the late 1800's.
February 10, 2013 - This is a capture of the Ryssby Church cemetary. Many of the original swedish settlers from the area are interred here.
