Another new location is the London end of the new platform 7 at Gatwick, although probably best in the morning. Unfortunately the only southbound daylight train at a sensible time is the Cliffe/Acton to Crawley FY at lunchtime (today it came from Acton). 66177 has grey roof panels over the cab.
The new platform 7 is used for both stopping and non-stopping trains, the Gatwick Express having migrated from platforms 1 and 2 to 5 (the Down Fast) and 6 (the Down Loop). When a GatEx is occupying platform 5 non-stops are routed through platform 7 (the speed limit through the junction off the Down Fast is 60 mph rising to 70 mph from the end of the platform back on to the Down Fast).
