Painting with Snow
For some reason the cracks between the bricks in our front walk are always cooler than the bricks themselves, even though the cracks (dirt filled) are darker than the bricks. If the temperature of the surface is near the freezing level, there can be a preferential build-up of snow in the cracks. The loop and miscellaneous blobs may have been from snow dropping off of overhanging limbs.

We have a little more snow on the ground now, but nothing like what got dumped on parts of western New York state. Nor will our temperatures rebound into the 50s and 60s as it is expected to do there. We got lucky. It helps to live upwind rather than downwind of one of the Great Lakes.
