SmugMug > all-time keyword > alaska > We live to fight another day. The dreadful weather - and the stalker Orca - failed to do us in. Rather, we still had a decent day on Salmon and Halibut (we were done for 2008 on ling cod) and, of course, black sea bass.

We aren't holding up the biggest fish, just the first ones on the top of the first bucket. We took 11 salmon on Tuesday, despite the weather (and losing Dad for a few hours - who'd have thought he'd get seasick???).

Pictured are: Captain Nick, Doug, Carolyn, Cabana Boy Adam, Max and Chris. The salmon remain unnamed.
SmugMug > all-time keyword > alaska > Late in the afternoon the bait fish started to - well, I don't know what they were doing. They gathered in HUGE numbers, right at the top of the water, then flopped around like Joe Cocker night at your karaoke club.

This is one bunch of them, there were dozens that day.

It sounded like we were in the middle of an epic rainstorm - you could barely hear each other speak.
SmugMug > all-time keyword > alaska > On the day we limited out in everything. 24 Coho salmon between about eight and twenty pounds, 4 ling cod (the YEARLY limit - and only between 31 and 35 inches), 8 halibut and twenty black sea bass.

We saw eagles fishing and whales sounding right beside us. Perfect doesn't even seem like enough.
