SmugMug > all-time keyword > alert > A white-tailed doe that had been resting, lying on the ground a mere few feet from the rear of a house, had become wary, gotten up, and begun to move back into the woods. She somehow seemed to sense my presence on the other side of a window. Survival instinct, I guess.

It was fairly early in the morning, and I got quite a surprise when I looked out a window on the lowest level of the house where I was staying, a house built into a hillside, and overlooking the Huron River in Ann Arbor, MI. The deer obviously has seen something through the window...possibly nothing more than movement. It wasn't sufficiently alarmed to move immediately. It stayed lying down for 5-10 more minutes before casually getting up and moving away. I saw no fawns with the doe.
