My submission to the Dgrin.com "Full Frame" contest. It's nothing spectacular, but you can't win if you don't play.

I told you that there would be a lot of flower photos coming up. Today I put the flowers out on the porch to get some sun, and then I sat there with my macro lens, trying to look for something a little more abstract.

Purple and White Calla Lily

I saw these at Whole Foods today and just had to have them. (I guess that makes me kind of gay, doesn't it?) I've never seen a two toned calla lily before. (Or maybe I have, and just didn't have the photographic state of mind that made me want to buy them.)

Here's some more shots of these lillies. I'd love your comments!

I've also been teaching myself more about sharpening in Photoshop. Thoughts? Is this photo too sharp?

Sun Star

I bought a Sun Star Plant at Whole Foods today. They have a really great floral selection there. I wanted to get a bunch of exotic and tropical flowers, but they were too expensive. I ended up with this $6, 6" Sun Star Plant. Here are a few more macro shots of the flowers.

I might take this opportunity to learn how to focus stack. These flowers will hopefully be around for a while.

Remember that red tulip with the missing pedals that I shot on 3/26? Well.... It's now dead. It's been dead for a few days, but I've been trying to come up with some way to make it look cool in a photo.
This shot is actually a silhouette, not a shadow. Maybe that's obvious, but at first glance I thought the second tulip in background looked like a shadow of the one in focus. Is this cool at all? Or does it just look like a dead tulip?
