2-Alarm Apartment Fire
Doral Apartments

On 03-06-05 at 0402 hours, Engine 8 and Engine 64 were dispatched along with Engine 6, Ladder 1 and Battalion 1 to a reported apartment fire at the Doral Apartments on Monroe Road. Engine 6, 8, and 64 all arrived at the same time into the complex. As Engine 6 turned into the complex they observed heavy fire venting out of the bottom floor apartment with fire auto-exposing to the second floor apartment. Engine 6 advised a "Working Fire" bringing Rescue Company 3 and Battalion 4. Engine 6 then requested the second alarm to be struck bringing 3 more engines, 1 ladder, Logistics, PIO and ARSON. Engine 6 attacked the fire assisted by Engine 64 while Engine 8 conducted a primary search on the upstairs apartment and then the fire apartment. Ladder 1 performed ventilation and Ladder 4 assisted with rescuing some occupants from the rear second floor apartment. Battalion 1, Chief Maver was the Incident Commander. The fire was placed under control in 30 minutes and the second alarm companies were released. Crews remained on scene for several hours overhauling the apartments. Several occupants were displaced and were assisted by the Red Cross.
