SmugMug > keywords > beacon > This painting was done in a beautiful Kauai garden. Tropical plants, colors, scents and sounds surrounded me as I sat on the ledge and painted this scene. The stone steps were cool to the touch. I was in the shade which allowed me to see the colors in my palette. At the top of the steps the sun shone warmly through the leaves. The oranges and yellows that it created formed a beacon. Stairs are an interesting symbol. Follow the stairs up, face the challenges and find what the future holds for you. You can see a light ahead but don't miss the enjoyment of your surroundings as you work towards your goal.

Altogether, it's a mile from Manly Beacon on the left to the trailhead on the far right. The size of the badlands is really hard to comprehend without walking the trails. You should see this in Original Size to appreciate how amazing this place is.
