In 1968, I volunteered during the Vietnam War, to become an Airborne Ranger Special Forces paratrooper and was trained at Ft. Benning Georgia (1969). This picture is taken in a barracks studio of every paratrooper before they ever jump.
We didn't even know how to put this parachute harness on. Notice closely that the capwell covers are NOT covering anthing and the reserve parachute looks like a dumy chute, too. I laugh now-a-days when I gaze at this death defying picture.
More amazingly is the fact that I now own and jump the very same type parachute equipment more than three decades later. It is this same equipment that I will be jumping over Normandy, France.
