SmugMug > keywords > brake > This video was taken at the climax of the first night. Flame lengths reached well over 80 feet as the fire consumed a stand of pines and the winds accelerated. The power line tower is in the background so you can use that to judge the size of the flames. Someone mentioned posting the video to Youtube. DO NOT POST THIS VIDEO TO YOUTUBE. SmugMug > keywords > brake > 10/26/08 Today was going to be a desperation shot, but I ended up spending quite a bit of time with the angle and lighting of this. You're looking at a shot of disc brakes on my fiance's mountain bike. I have disc brakes on my bike, too, but these are way more interesting. I only have one flash unit, which was positioned just on the other side of the tire. I really wish I'd had another one so I could have lit the front of the disc a little better, but I had to settle for the D80's built-in flash. I do like how the wear lines from the brakes showed up. Thanks to everyone who guessed on yesterday's daily! It is indeed a hand - the hand on a crosswalk sign. I was holding the camera below the actual sign, and the lights are behind a deep grill, which is why the top of the hand kind of disappears. Hopefully that makes sense...
