My son, A.J. was strolling (jumping, hopping, skipping, weaving -- he's very active) out of the church door a few Sundays ago when he got interested in the patterns on some nearby bricks. He asked me to take some pictures because, he was sure, these were shrimp that had been fossilized in brick.

I wasn't sure about that, I told him, guessing that many brick molds have bits of cloth or stone built into the mold patter to give the bricks random texture. It makes for more "interesting" walls. (Hence, his own fascination!)

This looks like it might be some shrimp-like curl of leather or something, but it does look amazingly like a shrimp. Who am I to say?

If anyone can identify this, feel free!
