SmugMug > keywords > deathvalley > Ahh, The Racetrack. These rocks are world-renowned for their ability to move! They can stay "dormant" for years and then all-of-a-sudden move. No one has actually seen the rocks move, however a combination of rain (reduced surface tension) and high winds are what is hypothisized to cause the rock movement. Another little known fact about The Racetrack is that it's the largest (natural) flat surface on Earth.

SmugMug > keywords > deathvalley > January 2009 led itself to a quick trip to Death Valley and the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Every location during the next 6 days was a new and unique experience for me. I met up with photographers Adam Kavalunas of Plateau Visions Photography and Ron Flickinger of Ron Flickinger Photography in Las Vegas, NV. After which we began our journey to seek out images only this time of year would provide us.

This image is now a part of my Poster Series.
