SmugMug > keywords > elmira > (July 01) Fashion shoot: Elmira Aside from the portrait sessions and the on-location runway shoot at Visage, this was a photo from my first fashion shoot. Shooting in the water posed a lot of challenges for me: balance, varying lighting conditions, and the obvious...trying not to get my gear wet. I had a close call with my light meter and my lens bag dragged a bit here and there while stooping low, but other than that it went alright. With so much going on and trying not to fall in, there are two things I wish I could have done differently: 1) have an assistant to hold a diffuser over Elmira's head when in the direct spots of sunlight, and 2) check the friggin' shutter speed. I was running too low for a shutter speed on these and had to dump about 85% of the photos because of poor focal quality. I did manage to salvage about two dozen photos, but a lot less than my ratio's been in the past. You can see the rest of the gallery here. Oh, and welcome to July!
