Blown Lamp
We blew out a lamp, and I happened to have my macro lens with me today. Unlike the photo I took on the 26th, this one is far from SOOC.
For the nerds out there, this is an HPL 575w lamp from a Source 4 ERS.

This bulb was inside a little ceramic house that served as a night light. The house fell and broke but I kept the bulb since it was fine, just in case I needed it in the future. I'm glad I did :)

The Tungsten Challenge...12/15/08
The Challenge: Show us your interpretation of the word, "Tungsten."
The Participants: Kre8ive, John (300m), The Curious Camel, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, MyKey, Trevlan, and myself.
The Result: The element Tungsten is also known as "Wolfram", so for a while I wanted to do something signifying a wolf in sheep's clothing (think about it). But then I thought I would try to photograph an electric light bulb, because most filaments are made of tungsten, and it seemed like a good challenge, which it was! To photograph the bulb I suspended it from my cooker hood with sellotape, and backlit it with the cooker hood light. Manual focus, because auto just wouldn't focus on the filament, convert to B&W and add different colour filters. I like the curve details that came out in the glass, but I'm not so sure about the optical illusion that makes the collage look wonky!

The original is here, where the filament is clearly visible; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/4328734_9ZqLR#437004854_3xxr5

WE CARE POSTERS PROJECT

To help raise money for St. Jude Hospital, I have joined this project with some other fellow SmugMuggers. Proceeds from the sales go to this charity and we do NOT make any money from the sales.
