SmugMug > keywords > fowl > Western Bluebird - I've been archiving a lot of files over the past few days. As I was going through the files, I found an entire file that I'd shot during the late spring but never processed. This one of those shot. We have a rock water feature that has water bubbling up through holes in the moss rock into very shallow pools at the top and the birds love to come here to drink and bathe. Unfortunately, we situated the rock in a place that is generally quite shady, so it is usually very difficult to get decent shots of birds there. This was captured when a bit more light was hitting one of the pools and I used exposure compensation and fill flash to lighten the bird even more. I was pleased to be able to capture the bird actually drinking.

Looks like our snowstorm is finally over. We only got about eight inches but the wind blew it into drifts, so we'll have to dig out a bit this morning. Hope your day is grand!

This mother and her ducklings came out of the lake after their swim and walked practically right up to me so I could get this shot of them warming up in the grass after their afternoon swim.
