SmugMug > keywords > fragrant > Fragrant Water Lily At this time of year, most of the ponds and lakes along the North Shore have beautiful blooming water lilies. We built a pond on our property a few years ago and this year the water lilies are beautiful. The lilies with white flowers are called the fragrant water lily. It turned out to be quite a chore to get the attached photo. I grabbed my waders from the storage shed and had a flashback from a few years ago. I had put on the waders and went down to the pond. I thought I felt something in the toe but didn’t think anything about it until I stood in the water for awhile. Something started to move across my foot so I got out of the water pretty quickly especially when it started coming up my leg. I pulled down the waders and a mouse jumped out. I thought I better look inside the waders again. I looked in the top and jumped back as a whole family of mice jumped out. I was really glad I hadn’t put my foot in. I’ve got to find a better place to store my waders.
