SmugMug > keywords > framed > 11/14/2009 When thou seest an eagle, thou seest a portion of genius; lift up thy head! ~William Blake What a fitting quote for today's post! Although not soaring high above the earth, using its amazingly keen eyesight to find unsuspecting prey, its still magnificent in my eye, and being able to see one this close, I could have shot all day and never moved. This is the Golden Eagle (thanks Gayle for pointing out my failures! Glad SOMEONE is paying attention!) Perhaps not as famous as their American Bald Eagle cousin, (perhaps because they're nearly now extinct) they are one of the most beautiful birds I've ever seen. Hope you enjoy. Mat
SmugMug > keywords > framed > 11/12/2009 They shall mount up on wings like Eagles ... Day #10 of this blog. Social networking can take its toll. Blogging ... Facebook ... it's a good thing we don't Tweet! I suppose that's next on our agenda, and who knows that the 'next big thing is' in social networking. We have a series of "Birds of Prey" that unless something drastically changes my mind, I'll probably upload each of the images over the next few consecutive days. My thought is to upload all 4 here so eventually all 4 will be shown together on this page before archiving them. We'll see. This of course, is the American Bald Eagle. Anyone besides me glad that our forefathers had the insight NOT to vote the Turkey as our National Bird?! Not that turkey's aren't magnificent birds, but few birds can hold inspired awe like a soaring eagle. Majestic is about the most appropriate word I can think of when I see one. Mat
