SmugMug > keywords > horseshoe > "Sunset at Horseshoe Bend" Horseshoe Bend is located in Page, Arizona. As the water leaves Lake Powell and the Glenn Canyon Dam it turns into the Colorado River, running through this bend and rushing onward towards the Grand Canyon. This is one of my favorite spots to photograph. It's a short 1.5 mile hike to reach the bend. With no guard rails or safety system the idea is to get as close to the edge as possible making sure to avoid the 1,100 foot straight drop. For this photograph I set my tripod and camera literally over the edge and used a remote to snap the photo. I waited about two hours to get the right lighting. Horseshoe Bend is an amazing and inspirational place declaring the beauty of God's handiwork.
