SmugMug > keywords > lens flare > Silver maple - Acer saccharinum -3979 It was a very grey day here today so I'm pulling out what was going to be my daily for yesterday before I ran across the bees. Shot this cluster of backlit silver maple leaves Easter morning as the sun began to clear the treeline in the background. (yes, I was up and shooting at sunrise for once) The deciduous trees are starting to unfurl their leaves and, while being very small and delicate, they're unblemished and about as perfect as they're ever going to be. Shot with the 70-200 f/2.8 and extension tubes. It's becoming a real habit to grab this combo and I think I'm finally getting dialed in to the optimal settings for this lens. It is unbelievably sharp for a zoom and, as a bonus, I'm building up my forearms lugging the thing around. : ) My alternate (or companion) image from this shoot was these shagbark hickory leaves, which were so new they still had wrinkles.
