SmugMug > all-time keyword > malacanthidae > The Brazilian tilefish, Lopholatilus villarii, imported into the USA and sold at Fulton Fish Market in New York City in 1994. This species differs fom the commercial important tilefish off the eastern seaboard of the USA because it lacks the long adipose fin on the top of the head of the US tilefish, Lopholatilus chamaeleonticeps. Tilefish is a deepwater fish living close to the bottom on the continental slope. It has white muscle which has a mild taste.
