SmugMug > keywords > minneapolis > Rainy Night, BNSF Railroad Bridge 2; Minneapolis, Minnesota There's a bit of history behind this bridge. The first span at this location was built in 1867 by the St. Paul and Pacific Railroad. (The StP&P ultimately became the Great Northern Railroad.) The Great Northern replaced that bridge in 1893, then improved it 1926. The GN modified the bridge with this truss in 1963. I have several other views of this bridge with trains. This image is looking south from Nicollet Island toward downtown.
