drenched

i woke up this morning tired and feeling a lil off. not really sick and no pinpointed pain but not right either, but i pushed on. i got the boys off to school, took my walk and even managed to get this shot in the foggy early morning light. i had a quick brekkie by mid morning but still couldn't shake it. so i figured i'd lay down and make a lil power nap would right me.

but i couldn't quiet my body. in the stillness and peace of my bed, i did realize that my heart was racing. i took my resting heart rate and it was 120. i called my FNP's office for an appointment and i was a bit shocked to find that when i spoke my voice was hushed like i was out of breath. they said to come in immediately.

driving the 3 short miles, gave me just enough time to panic making it worse, i'm sure. (just being in the office did calm me a teeny bit because i knew if anything was going to happen, i would be well taken care of.) my BP was 168/113!! i was quietly given an albuteral treatment to dilate everything and by the time i was laying down for an EKG, i could feel my heart slowing a bit. the EKG was normal. during the exam my heart sounded fine, fast, but not off.

Miss Lisa, who i was seeing for the first time, went back thru my charts and noticed that my blood pressure had been high or borderline the last couple of visits. so she prescribed a med to lower my BP.

thankfully by the time i got home, the hubby was home from his appointment in Memphis. he went and filled my scripts. within an hour of taking my med my resting heart rate was 78, well w/in the normal range. i felt right as rain.... just exhausted.

the moral of the story is:

 1) listen to your body, especially you ladies, heart disease is the #1 killer of women! and since they don't know exactly what causes it- we have to be vigilant to take care of the only heart we heave.

2) my lu is always right! she knew my BP had been high before and she remembered times when i had felt off before.

SmugMug > keywords > rosebud > I cropped this photo (too much of my kitchen window blinds were visible and my eye kept going there instead of to the rose bud), and then I applied several effects (using Photoshop Elements) to it to get this look, but the only one that I remember the exact name of is "watercolor". I also applied a lighting effect, a frame effect... Is it a little too much? Sometimes I get a little carried away...

I don't know which came first, the roses or the ferns, but both are taking over.
