SmugMug > keywords > saco > June 3 - I went to a meeting this evening in the First Parish UCC in Saco, Maine. I have never been inside this building before but the late afternoon summer sun shined through the west side of the church rewarding me with a great shot of this stained-glass window.
SmugMug > keywords > saco > May 24 - Sunday afternoon of the holiday weekend and there is not a cloud in sight. I usually only notice the railroad crossing gates and lights when they close and I have to wait. Today I stopped here just to take a photo.
SmugMug > keywords > saco > May 23 - Main Street in Saco, Maine has quite a variety of small retail establishments. Vic & Whit's is a wine, cheese and sandwich shop with a neat sign.
SmugMug > keywords > saco > May 21 - Today was sunny and hot, mid 90s! I drive past this federal-style home on my way to work. Today I caught it with the afternoon sun making nice shadows on the front.
SmugMug > keywords > saco > May 20 - Today I stopped by the Saco, Maine passenger train station to check out the new landscaping. This shot is looking at the clock tower through light pink blossoms of this tree. There were quite a few bees doing their work but they wouldn't cooperate for a picture.
SmugMug > keywords > saco > April 14 - What a beautiful spring day here in southern Maine! I was out on Main Street in Saco with the intention of taking a shot or two of the street or some of the great architecture. I ended up finding this great outdoor light instead. I really like the sun's reflection in the glass.
SmugMug > keywords > saco > April 7 - We have had a whole lot of spring rain in the past few days with flood watches and warnings throughout Maine and New Hampshire. From my bedroom window, I can see the Saco River which is quite high. I followed the river inland forabout ten miles to the small village of Bar Mills and the local dam. It appears that the gates had to be opened to prevent some flooding here. This picture shows the dam with gates opened and water rushing through.
SmugMug > keywords > saco > March 17 – Site #4 in Biddeford Maine’s “Museum in the Streets” is the site of Fort Saco, which was built on this site in 1693. In 1688, Native Americans burned the township of Saco on the north side of the river. The fort was built to protect the settlements of Biddeford and Saco from future attacks. The picture is of the Laconia Mills that were constructed here in 1841. In 1907, a memorial was placed here by the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Near the center of the picture, the concrete plaque can be seen. A better shot of the plaque can be seen in my Museum gallery.

This is the inside of the new Saco, Maine Amtrak station which opened last Friday. Through the windows is the train platform that I have taken pictures of before.
