SmugMug > keywords > saint paul > ARMCO B-71 Visibility Switch Engine, Jackson Street Roundhouse; Saint Paul, Minnesota I don't think of diesel locomotives as being "old" or "historic." This one proves me wrong. It was built by Westinghouse in 1930 for the American Roller Mill Company (ARMCO). It is privately owned and is stored at the Jackson Street Roundhouse. Time and weather aren't doing it a bit of good.

I'll ask around on my next visit. Until then, you and I will have to make do with imagination. Color and black and white have their merits for this image. Since I like both, I posted both. I love all the shades and textures in this old boxcar.

It's where the rotting and rusting rolling stock and motive power ends up. There are empty barrels and mounds of scrap hiding in the weeds, too.
