SmugMug > keywords > uss arizona > Control Tower on Ford Island.  Just behind me sits the Pacific Aviation Museum.  The newest addition to the museums at Pearl Harbor, the aviation museum should not be missed.  Our guide was an actual pilot of B-25's.  They're not many of that generation left, the greatest generation, and it was great to listen to his experiences.  The only other place like it I know of is the D-Day Museum in New Orleans.  So all you Louisiana people, if you haven't been there, it won't be much longer that you will be able to speak with actual D-Day participants.

The big white ball on the platform is giant mobile radar station for the Armed Forces.  It's powerful enough to detect objects the size of a baseball in orbit above Earth.

SmugMug > keywords > uss arizona > I think the one thing that makes the Arizona Memorial stand out above others is the fact that the actual ship is just below the surface and can be seen clearly.  When you go into the room on the Memorial with all the names listed, you know they are just below you and you can see their tomb.
