SmugMug > keywords > vamps > Two DH-115 Vampires. Lower aircraft is former RAAF T-35-w A79-649 once owned by racing driver Arnold Glass. (Thanks to Gina Wilson for the precise details). Upper aircraft is MK 55T ZK-RVM (NZ 5712) s/n 995.(Details from NZ register).

"The T-55 was an export version of the post ejection seat and Canopy mod (3151) Vampire T-11. many export T-11s were converted to the Later Mod standard and renamed T-55 ( in Australia though they were Moded from T-33 to become T-35As .... but we (Australians) are special.

ZK RVM is an ex Swiss license built T-55. The Swiss had a couple of T-11s (English Built) that were converted to T-55 standard. ZK-RVM was built in 1957 under license by Pilatus as a T-55 (first flight 1958).Its Swiss airforce serial was U-1225.The fuselage pod (woodwork) and engine were supplied by DH England as were most of the castings and fittings. Pilatus effectively made all the metal work.

It appears it was sold at auction to a Swiss buyer ( H.Weidman I think) in the big auction of March 1991. The same auction Jeremy Flynn brought his Goblin workshop equipment. I think I still have a brochure of the auction that Jeremy gave to me. It was registered as HB-RVM by its Swiss owner before being sold into New Zealand."
