SmugMug > keywords > water drop > I guess everyone just has to try this once, especially on a rainy day. So here is my attempt at photographing water drops as they hit the surface. Heres how I did it. I used an sb 800 speed light set at 1/16 power and bounced the light off a white background with a blue sheet of construction paper in front of that. Used a macro lens set at 200mm and my cameras sink speed of 1/500 not that the sink speed means much because the flash was controlling the exposure. An external battery pack on the off camera flash gave me a short recycle time and a remote trigger for the flash and one for the camera kept the camera from shaking. A little touch up in photo shop. The reflections in the water drops are from the tile counter top in my kitchen.

SmugMug > keywords > water drop > After seeing all the really wonderful "droplet" shots on Smug, I thought I'd give it a try. I was with my girlfriend in her neighborhood and I'm sure the neighbors thought I was a real nut job while I was taking these pictures...kneeling (well almost laying) in the wet grass with my camera, if they could even see the camera with my butt sky high in the air! I had to keep telling myself that it wasn't my neighborhood and I didn't really care what anyone thought anyway! I'll be trying these kinds of shots again for sure, although maybe in a more secluded setting next time.
