This was taken on the land where my father grew up in western North Dakota. Taken in May of 2007. The old house is no longer standing but interestingly the old outhouse still is, There is also and old grain bin still standing as is this windmill. Plus a new grain bin that the new owner of the property had put up. The foundation of the house is still there too, as are all the lilac bushes that surrounded the house.

I can't count all the things that make life unlivable in Turkana.
If it's not the heat, it's almost being bit like I almost was by of all things but a Black Mamba.

The water situation may not come in the form of a snake, it may not kill you as quick but I'm here to tell ya,
I saw these people burying their kids because of something we take for granted when we leave the hose on
all night watering our lawn. The situation is out of control and so many of you already have made a huge difference
by helping all of us raise money to get to these people.

Your gifts brought food and water to people that would may not be having dinner with
their kids tonight if it wasn't for you.

Here in this image is a small girl in the middle of a river bed that three years ago ran wild
as everyone enjoyed and lived from all it brought. It brought life and now, its gone.

The life support system has broken down and the only person who can fix this is God.

The lack of rain has killed off everything. The animals have migrated away.
You can't grow anything. These people don't have cars or a store at the end of the block.
They have no jobs, they grew up being shepherds, they have or shall I say had live stock.

Now, life has become so hard and they can't do anything about it.

With no cell phones to call a friend or family, no way of getting their kids to a hospital
when the children become so sick from malnutrition and dehydration would more than break your heart
seeing it from where I stood.

The last night I was in Turkana, I saw a small child that was dying and he needed more than food.
Even though we brought food out to them, the child had grown ill; to the point he could not eat.
So, here I stood with my new brother in Christ Sami Nem wishing we could do something more.

After an extended stay, I feel He has given us the eyes to see. We have a great idea of why
Turkana is dying, it's hard to picture but the same thing that's killing them almost killed me back
in 2006. I myself through a lack of understanding allowed something to separate me from God.

As I learned so much in a short while, I saw one father share that He felt his prayers
weren't getting past his roof of his small hut. Then he said "why isn't God doing anything?

I pray but He doesn't listen?"

Here I am half way around the world listening through interpreter to something I too felt in 2006.

How can this be?

What I shared next was life changing, what I shared having felt just as this father felt
reconnected this man to our Father.

We have and serve a wonderful loving God, A father who would give anything,
A father that would do whatever was needed to help us. We are His greatest creation
but through us not being aware, through our lack of understanding we cut off all
communication with our Father in Heaven. It's not that He stopped listening or loving us,
it's that we went outside His will, we went outside His grace because of our selfish nature
to somehow get something we felt we needed. Many times we set out to do this without
ever thinking what it's going to do to our relationship with our Father.

I asked this man if he or anyone in his family had done anything to cause division,
I asked him to think real hard, has anyone done something outside of Gods will to
get something? What I heard next shook me to my core.
